Hymenoptera is an order of medium-sized insects with two pairs of membranous wings, with ants, wasps, and bees being their most well-known representatives. This section focuses primarily on wild pollinators, with an emphasis on solitary bees, though we sometimes include other important pollinators—hoverflies (Syrphidae), which belong to a different order, Diptera… but let that be our little secret ;))
When the spring comes, you will most often find us with a net in our hand, waving around flowers, or with some tools and reeds that we use for making houses for solitary bees.
Our goal is to point out the importance of this order of insects, with an emphasis on our dear pollinators.
All bee, ant, and wasp enthusiasts (or those who are about to become one) are welcome to section meetings, excursions, or any other activities!
