Arachnology, the study of arachnids
Arachnology as a science does not only deal with spiders, but also with other similar animals from class Arachnida, like scorpions and harvestmen.
Our section primary focus is on arachnides of Croatia, but will include other regions if able.
While warmer weather, the idea is to show theoretical knowledge on the field through smaller and bigger fieldwork, which includes gathering individuals in purpose of determination and inventarisation. Attendees will learn how to distinguish the main species characteristic for this area (the ones who can be identified by mere eye), some basic information like where to find them and how to deal with them and will be participating in the fieldwork as a whole process, respectively the scientific research.
The goal of section and its work is to introduce the individual with diversity of Croatian arachnofauna, understanding of some basic terms related to arachnids like those in their morphology, suppressing the arachnophobia and the most important: indicating the importance of arachnids in ecosystem and why not to reach for the slipper on a sight of one!
