Genetics

Genetics is the science of inheritance, which studies the causes of similarities and differences between organisms and species.

The genetics section was founded for everyone interested in genetics or similar branches of science. We aim to cover all topics, from individual organisms to populations and species, as well as their evolution. Furthermore, we also cover topics in biotechnology, biomedicine, and their respective methods, with the genetic background.

Aside from the main topic, our section works as a sort of forum, where students can interact with one another, and gain information about internships, projects, and student exchanges abroad.

If you’ve ever wondered:

– why Dolly the cloned sheep died?

– why do Siamese cats have dark extremities?

– are there men with two Y chromosomes?

– what is a selfish gene?

– can an amoeba have a larger genome than a human?

and so on, then the genetics section is the place for you.

We’re looking forward to meeting you… Come and find out why Mendel is awesome!
