Bats

For all the night owls among students here is the Bats (Chiroptera) Section. Since these endangered flying mammals are widespread all around the region, if you want to explore them, you’ve come to the right place. Particularly, in Croatia, there are 33 bat species, which is quite high number considering that in all Europe there are 45 bat species.

The Chiroptera Section studies bats’ distribution and also echolocation as a complex way of orientation, hunting, and communication.

We have field trips everywhere, from the town’s center to mountain tops and the thickest forests. When not on a field trip, we organize meetings or educations, hang out and analyze field recordings of echolocation, which are always abundant.

We hope that we encouraged you to join our adventures, which are always as interesting!
