Birds are widespread animals that have fascinated man since the very beginnings of humanity. They are found everywhere: from crowded cities to the untouched jungles, from hot deserts to the frozen Antarctic, from small ponds to the vastness of the Pacific. This makes them an attractive and accessible group to study.
Around 400 different bird species have been recorded in the Republic of Croatia. Perhaps an intimidating number, but worry not – through hanging out and presentations, little by little we learn how to identify them and how and where they live! This knowledge does not remain on a theoretical level; through birdwatching trips, the gained knowledge is applied in practice. Members of the ornithological section also take part in many other bird-related activities – including bird ringing, education, monitoring, and other scientific methods for researching birds.
If you’re interested, come to one of our meetings or field trips, we’re sure you’ll learn something new and interesting about these feathered creatures!
